Firm Overview

Joseph J. Knox

Joseph J. Knox, Esquire

Joe was raised in Wilkes-Barre, and returned to the Wyoming Valley to attend Wilkes College after his father retired from a career service in the United States Air Force, affording Joe an opportunity to live and study in Germany and Maine. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1985, and commenced his legal career as a 2-year law clerk to the Honorable James Knoll Gardner, then a Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lehigh County. While there, he taught paralegal classes for the American Institute of Paralegal Studies in Allentown. He worked for Hahalis & McKarski Law Offices in Bethlehem before a 3 year stint with Post & Schell, P.C., a Philadelphia-based, insurance defense firm, at their Allentown office.

In 1991, Attorney Knox opened his own law offices with the help and guidance of Donald S. Young, Esquire in Macungie, just west of Allentown. In addition to workers' compensation and personal injury cases, his general practice handled everything from business incorporations, divorces and representing the local volunteer fire company and veteran's association, to basic wills and zoning matters. The practice quickly outgrew Attorney Young's office accomodations and relocated just up the street in the old Singmaster building. At one point, the building was bustling with activity as the practice had grown to service it's clientele with 3 full-time attorneys, 1 part-time attorney, and 3 legal assistants!

During the 2000s, the firm gradually downsized and consolidated it's resources, choosing to focus its practice exclusively to the handling of workers' compensation and personal injury cases. 2010 witnessed the sale of the Macungie office building after a 20-year presence in the community. The main office was relocated to it's present-day Whitehall address, and satellite offices were opened in Reading and Phoenixville!

The success of focusing the practice on workers' compensation and personal injury cases has afforded us the opportunity to expand our areas of service throughout Eastern Pennsylvania. Through the use of able, efficient staff, the internet, and an altruistic dedication to serving others, (plus a love of traveling over our beautiful Commonwealth) 2012 has seen the launching of our website, and the expansion of our services in Pennsylvania to all areas east of Harrisburg!

Joe is the proud father of Jennifer, a senior investment associate in San Francisco, CA, and Brian, a Beachbody fitness coach, is a P90X certified trainer and works for Equinox in Norwalk, CT. Joe currently resides in Collegeville.
